Get to know your bones better

Bone isn’t the dry, finished scaffolding we imagine. It’s living tissue, constantly breaking down and rebuilding itself, responsive to how you move, what you eat, how you breathe, and how you think about your own body.

In this free hour together, I’ll show you what that means in practice, and why a gentle, well-informed approach can do more for your bones than pushing harder ever will.

Who is this for?

You don’t need any yoga experience. You don’t need to be flexible. You need a chair and an hour.

What we'll explore

I want you to leave this hour with something you can actually use, not a list of things to worry about.

We’ll move through:

How bone actually works. Osteoclasts break bone down, osteoblasts build it back up. Understanding this quiet, constant renewal changes what you think is possible, especially after a scan result you weren’t expecting.

Why yoga (and qigong) are so good for bones. Mindful movement practices offer more than simple exercise for bone health. Yes, they increase bone density, but they also improve balance, lower stress, increase fascial resilience and many more benefits for your optimal bone health.

Why gentleness isn’t weakness. The most effective practice is often the one done with the most awareness rather than the most force. I’ll teach you a short sequence you can try from your chair or mat as we go.

What your bones are asking you to eat. Nutrition for bone health is more than just calcium. We’ll find out the best foods for bone health, and what really doesn’t help.

The mindset piece nobody mentions. A diagnosis of osteopenia or osteoporosis can make you feel frail and vulnerable.  It doesn’t have to.

And I’ll answer your questions live.

What students say

"Your language is empowering and positive"

Yoga for Healthy Bones is holistic and covers a variety of ways to look after bone health. Your language is empowering and positive, your approach is thoughtful and your communication of concepts very clear. I wished I’d had access to your information earlier!

Peaceful Presence

"Doing less, with greater awareness"

The course aligned with my appreciation for subtlety: how breath, attention, and intention shape not just the quality of movement, but its overall effectiveness. That shift toward doing less, with greater awareness, feels central.

I loved how the course acknowledged the role of nutrition alongside practice, highlighting that bone health is not just mechanical, but metabolic and multi-layered.

About Lisa

At 52, newly through menopause, I asked my doctor for a bone density scan expecting it to confirm what we both assumed: that an active life, good food and decent health would show up as strong bones.

Unfortunately, the scan showed osteoporosis in my lumbar spine and osteopenia in my hip.

Rather than starting medication, I turned to what I knew best, and spent the following years researching and practicing how yoga, qigong and nutrition could support bone health.

I’m a Yoga Therapist, Qigong Instructor, Nutritionist and Author with more than 30 years of personal practice and over 20 years of teaching.

Originally from Australia, now based in San Francisco, I teach individuals and small groups in person and online.
