Vegan Chocolate Truffles

I imagine, like most other people, that you are celebrating the holidays a bit differently this year? 

If you can’t get out to the shops, if there are no parties, if you aren’t hosting/attending a large family gathering and if you are beginning to feel just a teeny bit depressed about the whole idea of the holiday season at home…

In Iceland, there is a tradition of giving books as gifts on Christmas Eve, then cosying up with chocolate and a warm drink and reading for the rest of the evening. This tradition is called Jolabokaflod, which started during World War II, when most things, except paper, were rationed.

For your cosy indulgence, I want to share with you my favourite vegan chocolate truffle recipe. 

These make lovely presents, if you can bear to give them away! 

You can add your favourite liqueur or flavouring. I like to make them with Amaretto, and Cointreau, Frangelico or brandy work just as well. If you don’t want them to be alcoholic, try a few drops of peppermint or orange essential oils. 

Rolling the truffles can be sticky! But fun!
